Cleary purchases a new building

Cleary’s Livingston campus will be undergoing some changes and improvements that will hopefully be done before the start of the next academic year. The University recently purchased the Maplewood office building located on Cleary Drive for its appraised value of $900,000 from Livingston County Community Mental Health. Talks have been occurring over the years about acquiring the property and the timing was right. CMH is currently leasing the space from Cleary while its new facility in Howell is remodeled over the next several months. The university plans to move its welcome center to the new building and it will become a focal point for enrollment and will include the admissions and financial aid offices.

Athletics are coming to Cleary!

Cleary will soon be offering an athletics program! Interim athletic director Dan Riggs was hired this past August and after some research, determined that applying to the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) was the route to go. The NAIA application was completed and submitted on Sept. 22nd and the next step in the process will be for the NAIA visiting committee to come to the Cleary University campus and meet with the Cleary Athletic Group.

Riggs met with a group of Cleary students earlier this month to get some feedback on some of the athletic offerings they’d like to see. Currently, the plan is to offer men’s and women’s golf in the spring of 2012 and then men’s and women’s cross country in the fall of 2012.
